Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Comeback win keeps heady momentum aliveOne of the premier teams in the Eastern Conference came into the MTS Centre last night and dominated play for much of the game.  The Bruins held the 1-0 edge and similar to what happened to the Jets against the Leafs on Saturday, this time it was Winnipeg who managed to take the momentum when they scored two goals in under a minute in the 3rd period.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Big win a solid proof of mettleIf not for the play of Ondrej Pavelec this game would/should have been over much earlier, but the workhorse netminder kept his team in the gameOnce again they managed to leap frog back into 3rd place in the East as Carolina had lost earlier that evening to Florida.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Kane makes popping in rebound look easySometimes all it takes is to be in the right place at the right time.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Spotlight on HainseyFor all the focus he receives for still having never scored a goal for this incarnation of the franchise, Hainsey has really stepped up his game throughout the season when the rest of the defensive corps has been down with injury.  Even last night he took a blistering slap shot to the foot, stayed in the play and then was back out his next shift.

Winnipeg Sun:  Resurrection a miracleWith a top team like Boston leading 1-0 with under 10 minutes remaining in the 3rd period, I’m sure many Winnipeg scribes had their game stories ready to go but miraculously these Jets topped the power house Bruins with some hard work.  Paul also looks at the play of Ondrej Pavelec, up and down play of Buff, web rumours of Hainsey to the Bruins, making himself more valuable and GMs for a day.

Winnipeg Sun:  Bouncing back to beat the BruinsIt was exactly the type of game a team that wants to be seriously considered for the playoffs has to play.  Keeping close to a tough B’s squad and then exploding for three goals in just over eight minutes was a pretty decent game plan.  While it may not have gone exactly how coach Noel would have drawn it up, end of the day the Jets got another two clean points.

TSN:  Jets retake top spot in division after beating BruinsTime to turn on the afterburners and use the four (now three) game home stand to put some ground between the Jets and their opponents.  A huge double contest against the Capitals on Thursday and Friday would solidify Winnipeg’s hold on the Southeast.

CBC:  Puck luck bouncing Jets wayWhile luck is definitely a factor, the Jets should be thanking their lucky stars for Ondrej Pavelec.  He did admit however, following the game, that some bounces went Winnipeg’s way.  I believe it was on a Patrice Bergeron shot that Ondrej felt had he gotten all of it, it might have beaten him.  But at the end of the day, perhaps the luck of the Irish was with the Jets netminder.

NHL news:

Ottawa Citizen:  Senators lose another player, win another gameSeriously, how impressive are the Senators?  They keep losing players like it is going out of style and somehow they keep winning hockey games.  Coach Paul MacLean deserves some serious hardware at the end of the season if he can keep his troops performing at this level.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:  A perfect 10 that is perfectly imperfectThe Penguins keep winning, however improbably they are accomplishing those wins, and last night they did the Jets a favour by knocking off the Washington Capitals.

Columbus Dispatch:  Blue Jackets keep points streak aliveWhile we in Winnipeg may not being paying much attention to the Western Conference this season, Columbus has put together an impressive 11 game streak with at least a single point.  The have climbed from 15th in the West to sit tied with Phoenix for ninth.

NHL.com:  Ducks can close gap on Blackhawks for NHL leadA preview of tonight’s anticipated match-up between the two top teams in the West.
