Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets sending Scheifele back to Barrie.  After a taste of the NHL, it was past time for the Jets to send their 2011 1st round pick back to Barrie where he would be able to get the minutes he needs to continue his development.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Snapped streak big in short seasonAs crazy as it sounds the Jets could not afford to lose last night’s game.   Based on the stretch of games they have upcoming, taking 2 points was critical.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Spotlight on Alexander BurmistrovAfter handling his assignment to the IceCaps it was hoped the AHL seasoning would help to improve his game.  Coach Noel rewarded him with a move to the team’s 2nd line on Tuesday.  A look at his game, the things they liked, they didn’t like and a synopsis by Ed Tait.

Winnipeg Sun:  Penalty kill comes through for JetsEven more key than the play of the Jets during the penalty kill was the fact that Winnipeg only took 2 penalties the entire game.  After giving up 5 opportunities in Tampa, 6 against Florida and 5 versus the Canadiens it was nice to see some discipline return to the Jets last nightSome other thoughts from Friesen included Blueline bounty, rookie race and a healing Bogosian.

Winnipeg Sun:  Turning boos into cheersFans are not sitting in the MTS Centre blindly applauding this team, especially when the effort is seen as less than stellar.  During the power play the Jets just seemed to be unable to get anything going and fans reacted accordinglyOf course when Bryan Little scored during the 4 on 3 in OT, it is not a surprise that the fans quickly switched to cheer mode.

Globe and Mail:  Gimmick no more, teams finally taking shootout seriouslyWith points at such a premium, especially during a shortened season, teams are rightly seeing this as an important opportunity to gain an advantage over their competition.

Globe and Mail:  Austria’s surprising gift to the world of hockeyHis name is Vanek.  Thomas Vanek.  And he is your current NHL points leader.

TSN:  Is the NHL going to the 2014 Games in SochiAs someone who loves seeing the NHL participate in the Olympics, I really hope we see the players head to Russia to take part in the games.
