Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets were off on Sunday as they returned to Winnipeg following a disappointing game on Saturday night which saw them get pummeled by the Oilers. They will practice today at 11 AM CST as they prepare for their first of four games at home which begins with the Stars on Tuesday night. Stay tuned for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose ended their road trip earning a split in Iowa courtesy of a 4-3 win which means they went 2-1-0 on it. They played a very good game on Sunday which saw them pull off another 3rd period comeback by absolutely dominating for most of the final frame (at one point shots were 18-1 in their favour). It wasn’t all good news as prospect Colby Barlow left the game in the second period with an apparent lower-body injury and did not return.

Note III: A number of Jets prospects were in action on Sunday. In the OHL it was Kevin He (2024 4th) who got on the board in a Niagara win. His best friend and fellow prospect Kieron Walton (2024 6th) was held off the scoresheet for the first time in 12 games but he remains at top of OHL leaderboard for shots and 6th overall in points. Over in the WHL it was Manitoban Owen Martin (2025 3rd) who had an empty netter yesterday and who seemed to break through with 3G 3A in three wins for Spokane this weekend.

Winnipeg Sun: Grind of NHL schedule is no excuse for losing. That’s just it. Every team in the NHL could have that be their excuse due to the Olympics condensing things so it’s a good thing that 44 isn’t using that as justification for his team’s play during this last stretch.

Illegal Curve Hockey Show: Saturday Podcast. While this show was from two days ago there was plenty of Jets discussion that was not time sensitive. The boys discussed the Heritage Classic, the forward lines, the D and the goaltending ’till Christmas.
