Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets left Winnipeg last night after returning home for a single game against the Sabres which saw the home team finally get some secondary scoring en route to a 4-1 win. Today, they are in Edmonton where they will take on the Oilers. No morning  skate for Winnipeg since they played last night but stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 9 PM CST.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Edmonton, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 11:40 PM CST.

Note III: The Moose are also in action today as they take on the Wild in Iowa for the first time this season. Puck drop is at 6 PM CST.

Note IV: We will have plenty to discuss on this morning’s Illegal Curve Hockey Show. We will spend two hours discussing all things Winnipeg Jets starting at 9 AM CST so join us here.

Note V: Another two point game for Jets prospect Kieron Walton (1G 1A) who scored an absolute beauty which turned out to be the game-winning goal for Sudbury. He’s got 37 points (18G 19A) in 23 games. That puts him 6th in OHL points race. Over in the NCAA it was the first goal of the season for stay-at-home Dman Garrett Brown (2022 4th) which is especially sweet I would imagine given he was taken off the ice on a stretcher three weeks ago. Last up it was Manitoban Owen Martin (2025 3rd) who had a goal and assist in a Spokane win.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Hard hats to the rescue as Jets sweep aside Sabres. It was time to put the work boots on.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets players want Dustin Byfuglien at the Heritage Classic. And they are absolutely right. Fans would go insane if he showed up.

Winnipeg Free Press: Pearson, Koepke bulge the twine, Comrie solid between pipes as Jets dump Sabres to end slump. (Paywall). It was a necessary first step to righting the ship. Now they have to see if they can be consistent.

Global News: 1st & 4th lines each score twice as Jets down Sabres 4-1. Ironically Jets head coach Scott Arneil said he wants to see what the fourth line can give them and they delivered last night.

NHL.com: Connor extends goal streak to 4, Jets defeat Sabres. Four straight games with a goal for number 81 according to Darrin.
