Note: The Jets held a very optional skate on Saturday but there was something significant which took place as captain Adam Lowry shed the non-contact uniform for a regular one. That obviously doesn’t mean he’s suddenly a player but perhaps he’s in line with the November 1st target. Head coach Scott Arniel is speaking this afternoon so perhaps we will get an update. There won’t be a morning skate but be sure to check back for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest news. Puck drop is at 5 PM CDT.
Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Utah, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 7:40 PM CDT.
Note III: The Moose made some tweaks to their lineup last night in Chicago as they tried to put a four-game losing streak behind them. They got off to a good start and opened the scoring courtesy of Phillip Di Giuseppe. The visitors were able to tie the game when David Gustafsson took advantage of a miscue behind the net to feed Walker Duehr for the game tying goal. And the South Dakota product wasn’t done there as he’d add another goal less than two minutes later to give Manitoba a 3-2 edge. Some friendly fire gave the Wolves the game tying goal in the 3rd and then they won it in OT with a shot that picks corner. Today is a travel day as they head to Tucson, Arizona to conclude the final two games of their road trip.
Note IV: Big night for Jets prospect Jacob Cloutier (2025 7th) who scored his first ever hat trick powering Saginaw to victory.
Note V: While it is not Jets related for folks who were fans of the Dynamic Dane, and there are many in this town, an unfortunate way for him to score his first in a Hurricanes jersey as Nikolaj Ehlers puts it into the back of his own net last night in Dallas.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Offensive showdown expected when Winnipeg Jets clash with Utah Mammoth. (Paywall). The Mammoth are coming. The Mammoth are coming. Previously a visit by this team (when they were the Coyotes) wasn’t one that inspired fear (unless Karel Vejmelka was in net). Now they come to Winnipeg as the leader of the Central although the good news is Vejmelka played (and won) in St. Paul last night so the Jets will likely face Vitek Vanecek.
The Athletic Winnipeg: Why Mark Scheifele’s pursuit of Winnipeg Jets scoring records is so complicated. (Paywall). Just do what I do and add a bunch of qualifiers when sharing records. Mine are Jets 2.0 alone, Jets 2.0/Thrashers (as NHL currently views them) and then I do Jets 2.0/1.o combined. Good times! Amazing how the league can be definitive when it came to Utah leaving the Coyotes records behind but not act with similar alacrity in this instance. As Murat writes I expect them to right this sooner rather than later.
