Note: While it’s a slow time in hockey right now there are still a number of RFAs left to be inked to new contracts by the Jets. They got the first one done last week signing defenceman Isaak Phillips to a two-year, two-way contract. Of course he spent all of his time last season with the Moose so folks will be looking to see which of the remaining Jets restricted free agents gets signed next.

The Carillon: The incalculable Jonathan Toews Factor. While it’s true that the local hero has captured the hearts and minds of this community, he and the rest of the team will be judged on what this team is able to do on the ice this season.

Which is why Winnipeg only needs to stay in the mix this season not be at the front of the race as they were during the 2024-25 campaign. Once we know which teams are sellers it makes for greater opportunity to add to the group.
