Note: It was supposed to happen on day 2 of NHL Free Agency but by the time the clock struck midnight Nikolaj Ehlers remained without a new NHL deal as the Dynamic Dane and his agent continued to consider their options. And so we wait.
Note II: For a second straight day the Jets made a number of additions as they look to build up the organizational depth and provide the prospects playing on the Moose with some quality pieces. It began with signing Walker Duehr to a one-year deal, then adding some homegrown talent with Winnipegger and goalie Isaac Poulter to a one-year contract, they also added a big scorer at the AHL level in Samuel Fagemo to a one-year contract and then reaffirmed their commitment to all things Sweden by signing veteran Gustav Nyqvist on a one-year deal.
Note III: The subtractions from the organization was limited to Mason Appleton who has signed a two-year deal with the Red Wings.
Note IV: It’s not all about free agency around these parts as it was Day 3 of Jets Development Camp on Wednesday. We spoke with prospects Domenic DiVincentiis | Owen Martin | Edison Engle. We’ll be back at hockey for all centre today so stay tuned for more prospect coverage.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Taking the long way home for Jets draft pick Edison Engle. It’s always interesting when there’s a new crop of prospects added to the system getting to know them and know their path for development. Edison is taking what is now an uncommon route but one I suspect that will quickly become “the way” in the next few years.
Winnipeg Sun: Free Jets gear and free memories for Oakbank product Owen Martin. Another cool prospect story on a local kid who not that long ago was a fan at the iceplex getting fist bumps from players and now he’s the player reciprocating for his fellow Manitobans.

Winnipeg Sun: Battle in the crease this season for Manitoba Moose. Dom and Thomas formed a really good tandem last season with the Moose and it’s gonna be interesting to see what happens this upcoming season.
Winnipeg Free Press: No regrets for Jets prospect Nehring. (Paywall). Another player who added some championship pedigree as Zach Nehring and his Broncos took home the National Championship.
NHL.com: Julien ready for pro career after winning Memorial Cup. He gives off Adam Lowry vibes and I suspect after learning how to be a pro from the Hunter brothers he’s gonna be ready to go this season.
