Note: Tomorrow is the final day for the Jets to sign 2023 7th rounder Connor Levis. We already know he’s committed to play for Bowling Green in the NCAA but this would be the last day of their exclusive signing rights.
Note II: Moving over to a current Jets prospect it was a two assists night for Jets prospect Jacob Julien (2023 5th) including the primary on the insurance goal for London as his club is off to the Memorial Cup Final with their 5-2 win over Moncton in the semifinal. It will be the OHL vs the WHL on Sunday for a shot to be the top junior team in the CHL.
Note III: Over in Russia it’s the final day of KHL contracts and we learned yesterday that Jets draft pick Dmitry Rashevsky (2021 5th) was qualified by his club (Dynamo) but as of today we haven’t heard if he’s accepted it. If not then it seems likely he comes over to North America with his first ever Jets deal but we will have to wait and see. We will continue to monitor.
Note IV: The offseason is officially underway for the Jets. This week there was news the captain Adam Lowry had hip surgery and will need 5-6 months to rehab, we will discuss the merits of Jonathan Toews as a centre option in Winnipeg, the latest on dynamic winger Nikolaj Ehlers who is set to become a UFA and more. Join us for two hours of hockey talk starting at 9 AM CDT on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show. Guest include Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press and now former Moose assistant coach Eric Dubois who is heading to coach in Germany next season.
Jets news:
Sportsnet: Jets Mailbag. Jacob answers your questions about: 1) Jonathan Toews 2) If the Jets make any changes to the backend. 3) Jets tying themselves to too many long-term contracts for non-impact players. 4) If Nik Ehlers walks, how viable is JJ Peterka as a replacement?

Sportsnet: Assessing the off-season centre market for Maple Leafs, Canadiens, Jets. Does this not feel like the same conversation that’s been had in Winnipeg since Bryan Little was in that spot and they were looking for his replacement (when he was still playing).
Global News: Hockey in June is compelling, even with Jets out of playoffs. Fair point by John although I’d be content with hockey being done before June as it is way too nice outside to be thinking about a winter sport.

WST: Jets 2025 UFA RFA Preview: Ehlers, Vilardi, Samberg & More. Connor Hrabchak previews the Winnipeg Jets’ key UFAs and RFAs ahead of a pivotal 2025 offseason. With $26M in cap space and big decisions looming, who stays and who walks?
Moose news:
Illegal Curve: Moose assistant coach Eric Dubois leaving team to join German club in DEL as an assistant coach. After nine seasons behind the bench as a coach (and one as a player) that will be it for Manitoba assistant coach Eric Dubois who is moving on to a new opportunity next season.
