Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: We learned on Friday morning that the Jets would be without Neal Pionk for some time as head coach Scott Arniel pronounced the defenceman would be out week-to-week with a lower-body injury. We learned Friday night that this Winnipeg team can handle themselves as they derailed a Dallas team that was as red-hot as they were but that wasn’t evident for most of the game. While the Stars were absent some key players they just weren’t in the same class for most of the night as the home team smothered them with their consistent play throughout that hockey game. With the 4-1 victory the Jets now have a 10 point lead on the Stars for top spot in the Central (with the visitors having played two fewer games). The Jets will travel to Seattle today as they get set for a date with the Kraken on Sunday.

Note II: The Moose are in Iowa as they play for their playoff lives tonight against a Wild team that is in the exact same position as them. Puck drop is at 6 PM CDT.

Note III: We’ve got two hours of Jets talk coming your way on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show starting at 9 AM CDT. Join us as we recap the win over the Stars, discuss the injury to Neal Pionk, the seamless additions of Luke Schenn and Brandon Tanev and more. Joining us will be Jets radio colour analyst Mitchell Clinton as well as Moose play-by-play voice Daniel Fink.
