Note: The Jets played well enough to win last night’s game but the power play failing to click on two opportunities in the final five minutes of the game coupled with excellent goaltending from Flyers netminder Ivan Fedotov equaled a 2-1 shootout loss for Winnipeg. They ended up cancelling practice after playing three games in four days.
Note II: The Moose left Toronto after concluding six games on the road with a shootout loss to the Marlies on Saturday. It was a game that got off to an unfortunate start as Jets prospect Brad Lambert had a goal disallowed that clearly should have counted. Fellow Winnipeg prospect Elias Salomonsson had a glorious chance to give the Moose a lead but no dice. Goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis with the stop on the breakaway to keep the game between the Moose and Marlies tied in the 3rd. With the loss the Moose return to Manitoba having gone 3-2-1 away from this province. They will play four straight games in Winnipeg starting Tuesday morning with the second school day game of the year.
Note III: There weren’t a ton of Jets prospects in business on Saturday night but the ones that were taking part had big impacts. Starting with Kevin He in the OHL who had 3G 1A for Niagara. Gonna have to hold off on updating Jets prospect Brayden Yager’s (2023 1st) stats as the WHL credited him with two assists last night but clearly doesn’t appear that way. It was a busy four days for Jets prospect Thomas Milic (2023 5th): On Wednesday he made 32 saves on 34 shots in a 3-2 OT win for the Moose in the AHL. Friday he had a 21-save shutout & on Saturday he made 30 saves on 31 shots for two weekend wins for Norfolk in the ECHL (He’s got a 1.88 GAA & .936 save%).

Winnipeg Sun: ‘We’re so much better than that’: Jets drop shootout to Flyers. One thing about Nikolaj Ehlers he really doesn’t sugarcoat things. Paul with the reaction from the game.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ Josh Morrissey ‘as curious as anyone’ as deadline approaches. I know there were three trades on Saturday but I truly believe the Jets won’t be busy until Friday so as to not muck up the 23-man roster and necessitate moves that could result in losing a player. But like number 44 we are curious what we might see happen on Friday.
Winnipeg Free Press: Power outage leaves Jets banking single point against Flyers after shootout. (Paywall). Wieber gives you his assessment of last night’s game.

Sportsnet: Jets’ power-play woes continue in loss to Flyers. Where is the top NHL power play? They may need to put it on a milk carton as it’s disappeared going o/16 in their last six games.
NHL.com: Fedotov stops 29, Flyers edge Jets in shootout. Hard to believe he didn’t have a win before last night since November of 2024.
