Note: The big news on Monday was that Sidney Crosby watch ended with the Penguins captain being good to go for Team Canada which meant Jets alternate captain Mark Scheifele will get time away from the rink during the 4 Nations Tournament. While this might make 55 even more focused this must have been quite the disappointment for him.
Note II: The Moose were off yesterday after their big 7-2 win over the Wild on Sunday. Today they practice as they welcome the Stars to town for a pair of games starting on Wednesday night. If you’d like to go send me an email (dave @ illegalcurve .com).
Jets news:
TSN: Hellebuyck has a strong argument for the Hart Trophy. When Travis Yost joined Cam Poitras on Jets at Noon he joked that it likely would spur him to do some Jets writing and sure enough he has with this one on the case for 37 to be league MVP.
Daily Faceoff: Jets’ Connor Hellebuyck keeping things status quo ahead of biggest tournament of his career. While it clearly doesn’t have the same cache as the Olympics there is no question that it will be worth watching 37 face off against Canada’s best.

Winnipeg Sun: ‘Not the Olympics’: Not all Jets glued to TV for 4 Nations event. Hard to disagree with that assessment by Ehlers.
Winnipeg Free Press: First practice offers glimpse into how Jets, Winnipeggers will fit into 4 Nations’ lineups. Eyes were glued to the practices held by Team Canada and Team USA on Monday.
Global News: Despite elite season, Jets embrace underdog role. Every time they get branded with that elite moniker it seems like they have a setback. Probably best to be seen as pretenders.
Moose news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Moose look to build on success. (Paywall). It was a very unexpected result given how difficult goal scoring has been for Manitoba.
Winnipeg Free Press: Salomonsson turning heads with Moose. (Paywall). It’s a shame that he lost a few months of development but he is starting to look like the player we saw to start the season.
