Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets held an optional practice on Friday as they got set for today’s showdown with the Capitals in Washington in a battle for 1st place in the NHL. Morning skate gets underway at 10:30 AM CST so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 6 PM CST.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Washington, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 8:40 PM CST.

Note III: The Moose were looking to end a five-game slide last night in Milwaukee where they faced old friend Chase De Leo who is back in the AHL after the Jets 2014 4th rounder was signed from Europe by Charlotte but was subject to AHL waivers and was claimed by the Admirals. It’s been seven years since he last played a game with the Moose and the only player who is still playing for Manitoba since that time is C.J. Suess. It was the visitors who struck first as captain Dominic Toninato opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal followed by a power play goal scored by Dylan Coghlan to give them a 2-0 lead. After the home team tied the game Manitoba took a 3-2 lead courtesy of Mason Shaw‘s eighth goal of the season which would stand up as the game-winning goal. While the visitors did a good job of suppressing shots in the final frame (just three allowed)the first one of them they allowed was this breakaway which tested goalie Domenic DiVincentiis but he was up to the task. They are back in Chicago tonight for a re-match with the Wolves to close out the road trip. Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.

Note IV: We’ve got two hours of Jets talk coming your way on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show starting at 9 AM CST. It’s also the 16th anniversary of the show which began back in 2009 on Red River Radio. We will reflect on a Winnipeg hockey club which has won five straight games, preview the game this evening in Washington and more.
