Note: The Jets continue to chug along this season showing off their depth on Thursday as we learned that winger Morgan Barron was out week to week after suffering an injury delivering a big hit on Tuesday night. But Winnipeg simply recalled Parker Ford and gave the Rhode Island product a chance to make his NHL debut in front of family and friends last night in Boston which is about an hour or so away from his hometown. He made the most of it scoring in his NHL debut which is something the undrafted college free agent signee did in his AHL debut for the Moose. He had one of six goals the Jets scored as they defeated the Bruins 6-2 which was their fifth straight victory as they sit alone in 1st of the entire NHL. They will practice today in Arlington, Virginia as they prepare for a battle for top spot with the Capitals tomorrow in Washington. Check back for the Practice Report.
Note II: The Moose will be looking to bounce back following a 3-1 loss to the Wolves in Chicago on Wednesday when they do battle this evening against the Admirals in Milwaukee. It won’t be easy given they are missing three of their top scorers right now. Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.
Jets news:
Sportsnet: Parker Ford’s memorable performance leaves great impression on Jets. One thing the Jets under Arniel are doing is calling up players who either fit a need (Lambert as a centre) or a guy who both fits a need and is playing well in the AHL (Ford). Seems like in years past a veteran would have been the recall but this was very deserving given Ford’s body of work.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets make it five in Beantown, hit Washington on a roll. The Bruins were supposed to be a desperate team fighting to maintain their spot in the wild card race but they certainly didn’t play with desperation, especially in the third period where Winnipeg rolled over them.
