Note: The Jets earned three out of four points this weekend including an impressive 3-0 win over the Avs on Saturday night. Be sure to read Connor Hrabchak’s next day takeaways the day after every game. The team definitely earned themselves a day off on Sunday. Today they will hit the ice in downtown Winnipeg for a practice as they prepare for the Canucks who they will face tomorrow night. Check back for the Practice Report.
Note II: It was a travel day on Sunday for the Moose who completed an improbable road trip in Grand Rapids which saw them sweep their weekend set with the Central division leading Griffins which were their third and fourth straight wins. In total they went 4-0-1 during the five-game road trip which started 2025 off with a bang for the AHL club of Manitoba. They are off today.
Note III: Pair of Jets prospects in the OHL had big nights on Sunday. Kieron Walton (2024 6th) is gonna start a new streak after his 19 game one ended last game. He had 2G 1A for Sudbury which gives him 69 points (26G 43A) in 39 games which is good enough for 3rd overall in OHL points. After a slow start (1G 2A in 10 games) to the season, Jets 2023 1st rounder Colby Barlow has 31 points (20G 11A) in his last 28 games including 2G 1A last night for Oshawa.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Samberg back in the saddle as Jets ride him for big minutes. To quote the 1988 song by Cinderella “Don’t Know What You Got (Till It’s Gone)”. The Jets now know what half a season without 54 looked like and half the season with him in the lineup. They clearly need him in it and they certainly didn’t ease him in very gently as he played big minutes in his return.
NHL.com: Hellebuyck of Jets choice to win Vezina as best goalie. That headline won’t be a surprise by anyone who has watched the NHL this season as he is leaving the rest of the field in the dust.
