Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets held an optional practice on Sunday which saw most of the team take to the ice as they prepared for a back-to-back set which begins today in Winnipeg with a game against the Predators and then ends tomorrow night in Denver against the Avalanche. Winnipeg will hold morning skate at 9:30 AM CST. Stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 6:30 PM CST.

Note II: And reminder the game is a Prime game so it won’t be on TSN or Sportsnet. You need to have Prime.

Note III: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Nashville, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 9:10 PM CST.

Note IV: The Moose got off to a good start in the first eight minutes of their first post-Christmas game yesterday afternoon in downtown Winnipeg but then the visiting Stars took control of the rest of the period and for the most part the game. In the end Manitoba fell 6-2. They’ll practice today at 10:30 AM CST as they get ready to close out 2024 with a New Year’s Eve late afternoon game against Texas.

Note V: With the holiday break done Jets prospects are back in action. Kieron Walton (2024 6th) picked up an assist in Sudbury’s OT loss which kept him tied for 4th overall in the OHL scoring race. Jacob Julien (2023 5th) had a primary assist on the game-winning goal for London. Kevin He (2024 4th) kept the assist theme going getting one in Niagara’s loss. While it wasn’t a goal he remains tied for 4th in OHL goals. Jets goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis (2022 7th) picked up the 10th win of his rookie season (only has two losses) making 34 saves.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets saving up for steep price of playoffs. While the regular season is important to set the table the Jets know it won’t matter if they flame out again in the playoffs.

Winnipeg Sun: Direct, demanding and winning: Jets coach Arniel on record pace. Paul is a very good writer and this is a good read about how the Jets bench boss is showing off that evolution he discussed when asked about his coaching philosophy the second time around.

Winnipeg Free Press: Nino to the rescue. (Paywall). Mike caught up with the big piece of the third line who was helping off the ice showing he’s really embracing his inner Friendly Manitoban.

Winnipeg Free Press: Stanley’s role a sore point for fans, but Jets haven’t given up on him yet. (Paywall). Fans had lots to say/ask in the latest mailbag for Mike and Ken. No surprise that Logan Stanley was a feature.
