Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets hit the ice for a practice on Friday as they got ready for today’s battle with the Senators. We learned on Friday that the team had recalled defenceman Dylan Coghlan as Haydn Fleury has been listed as week-to-week while Dylan Samberg resumed skating but his return timeline remains murky. Winnipeg will have an optional morning skate at 9:30 AM CST. Stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 6 PM CST.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Ottawa, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 8:40 PM CST.

Note III: The Moose returned to Winnipeg on Friday following their holiday time off and will practice this morning at hockey for all centre as they prepare for the final two games of 2024 which kicks off against the Stars on Sunday afternoon.

Note IV: Over in Ottawa, Jets prospect Brayden Yager (2023 1st) and his Canadian team were stunned in an eight-round shootout by the Latvians. The Jets prospect had a chance to play OT hero but stellar defence by the visitors kept the puck from finding the back of the net.

Note V: We’ve got two hours of Jets talk coming your way on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show starting at 9 AM CST as we look back at the week that was in Jetsland while also getting you set up ahead of tonight’s game between Winnipeg and Ottawa.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets have chance to add gravy to high-calorie first half. Gentlemen start your engines because it’s gonna be a sprint to the 4 Nations Tournament and then the playoffs. Time to rise up to the challenge and show that they can do in the second part of the season what they accomplished in the first.

Winnipeg Sun: ‘I don’t really remember it’ says Gustafsson after being knocked out in first fight. Don’t think he’ll be adding pugilism to his bag of tricks anytime soon.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets face critical stretch. (Paywall). At least they’ll be able to enjoy plenty of home cooking.

Winnipeg Free Press: Coghlan rides pro hockey roller-coaster back to the Jets. Tough position to be in but the organization is happy that he remains in the fold.

Global News: Jets off to a flying start this NHL season. Lots of joy in joyland these days.

Jets video:

Bardown: Jets prospect and Team Canada’s Captain Brayden Yager to take the HUT Card Challenge. Fun little video that Jesse and Luca shot with the 2023 1st rounder as he got ready for the Word Juniors.
