Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets hit the ice for practice on Sunday before the team took off for Toronto where they will take on the Leafs this afternoon. Neither Adam Lowry or Nikolaj Ehlers were skating yesterday and the team indicated it was maintenance for both. The captain left the game on Saturday in the 3rd so that will bear watching for the game today against the Leafs. Given it’s an afternoon game no morning skate but head coach Scott Arniel is speaking at 10:30 AM CST so we will update the pre-game report once he’s spoken. Puck drop is at 1 PM CST.

Note II: This afternoon, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Toronto, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 3:40 PM CST.

Note III: The Moose were looking to build on their Friday win but it was not to be as the IceHogs took it despite being outshot by the home team. Only Jaret Anderson-Dolan found the back of the net in the 3rd which didn’t help get the team in the win column but did win fans in the building free pancakes. In the end they lost 5-1 to Rockford which meant it was a split of their two-game set. The team is now off until next Saturday.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Matthews out for Leafs, Lowry, Ehlers miss practice with Jets. Paul gives you the lay of the land between these two clubs.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets face their own Scrooge in pre-Christmas tilt with Leafs. Folks in Ontario don’t miss a chance to remind folks in the province one stop west of those comments from the Jets top centre (and Ontario product) from three years ago.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets look to leave losses to Leafs behind. (Paywall). Ken sets things up based on chats with Mark Scheifele and Gabriel Vilardi.

Toronto Sun: Jets looking for payback against Maple Leafs in trip to Toronto. The dream for a perfect season was crushed back in game 9 of the season and Winnipeg will look to get “revenge” apparently for that loss in tonight’s game.

Globe and Mail: Jets trying to overcome nemesis Maple Leafs. Amazing what the All-Canadian division did to create a rivalry that had never been there before.
