Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets suffered their fourth straight loss as they had a brutal middle frame (outshot 19-3 and outscored 2-0) which ultimately led to their 4-1 loss (oddly enough the seventh game in last 12 that ends 4-1). Today they were scheduled to be on the ice for a practice but they have chosen not to skate and will simply take off for a quick two-game road trip which starts tomorrow in Buffalo.

Note II: We learned yesterday that Nikolaj Ehlers is expected to miss 7-10 days and that Dylan Samberg is still a ways away.

Note III: The Moose were on the ice on Tuesday for a practice (sans Brad Lambert who was recalled) and today they’ll stay off the ice as they volunteer their time at Siloam Mission.

Note IV: Must have been a weird one for Jets prospect Brayden Yager (2023 1st) who played his first game on a new team in five WHL seasons and it came against his old team a day after he was traded from Moose Jaw to Lethbridge. He got the insurance marker into an empty net as the Hurricanes defeated the Warriors. In 22 games this season he has 12G 19A for 31 points.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: Jets struggle with simple mistakes as losing streak hits four. The vaunted Jets structure which we spoke about earlier in the season is not there to that same degree which is evidenced by the way they are losing hockey games.

The Athletic Winnipeg: What I’m seeing as the Winnipeg Jets lose 7 of their last 10 games. (Paywall). Murat gives you his thoughts on the tailspin.

Winnipeg Sun: Lackluster Jets drop fourth straight, topple from top spot. Still trying to figure out how the Jets team that went 15-1-0 played that stinker of a second period. Paul shares his insight into the contest.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets pay price for playing ‘cute’ as Blues score twice in 39 seconds. (Paywall). From high above the ice surface Wieber provides his insight into the game he watched from the CLC pressbox.

Global News: Slumping Winnipeg Jets fall to Blues 4-1 for 4th straight loss. Hard to see it as anything other than a slump when you’ve won three of your last 10 games and one of those wins was because your goalie was brilliant.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Jordan Kyrou scores twice as Joel Hofer, Blues beat Jets 4-1. (Paywall). Trust a Winnipegger to get it done against the team from the city where he grew up. And it’s not the first time Hofer was good against the Jets. Check out the game recap from someone who covers the Jets opponent.
