Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Site Update: It appears the migration took place seamlessly on Monday which is quite something given it was a gameday and I half expected issues but I am not complaining. This new server will allow us to continue to provide all the latest Jets and Moose contest for years to come while addressing increased demands for resources. Thank you for your daily visits to our site.

Note: Last night was a battle between the 1st and 2nd place teams in the NHL but really for the first couple of periods it was the Wild vs Connor Hellebuyck and the two-time Vezina winner delivered making 38 saves on 39 shots in the first 40 minutes of the hockey game which kept his club in the game. Eventually Winnipeg got going taking it 4-1 over Minnesota which improved them to a ridiculous 18-4-0 on the season. The Jets are in L.A. today where they will practice at Crypto Arena at 2:30 PM CST so check back for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose and their partners were visiting the Christmas Cheer Board to volunteer on Monday. This morning they get back on the ice to start to prepare to face the Wranglers on Friday night. Be sure to check back for the Practice Report.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Hellebuyck steals the show. When we talk about focus 37 put on a clinic last night. Mike was inside Xcel and filed this game report.

Winnipeg Free Press: Heinola ‘super excited to be back’. (Paywall). Almost two years between NHL games for the 2019 first rounder who has some runway with the injury to Samberg and with Stanley on IR. Mike caught up with him before his first NHL game since January of 2023.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets ride Hellebuyck to 4-1 win over rival Wild. You don’t apologize for having the best goalie in the NHL although his teammates could apologize to him for abandoning him for big stretches of the first two periods.

Star Tribune: Wild sink to another Central Division team. Check out this recap from a writer that covers the Jets opponent.

The Athletic Minneapolis: Wild got ‘goalied’ and deserved better, but suffer another loss to Jets. (Paywall). Can’t say I can recall a time when a rival GM shows up to congratulate a goalie that led to your team’s defeat but guess Guerin is seeing 4 Nations big picture in thanking the presumptive starter for the Americans in February. Another recap from a writer that covers the Wild.

The Athletic Winnipeg: How Connor Hellebuyck stole latest Jets victory over Wild: 3 takeaways. (Paywall). Murat shares his thoughts on the latest Jets win.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Breaking down Winnipeg Jets a quarter of the way into 2024-25: What I think and what I know. (Paywall). Hard to believe 25% of the season is completed. With that news Murat provides his thoughts and insight on the NHL club of Winnipeg to date.

TSN: ‘They can win games so many different ways’: Corrado on if the Jets are cup contendersThe Winnipeg Jets have the most points in the NHL and they picked up their 18th win of the season Monday night, but they only have the 11th best odds on FanDuel to win the Stanley Cup this year. TSN’s Hockey analyst Frank Corrado joins SportsCentre to share if he thinks the Jets are true cup contenders come spring-time.
