Note: The Jets spent Friday on the ice for a quick 35 minute practice as they welcomed back former coach Rick Bowness to their skate. Things looked largely the same as reported so it would appear no changes (aside from Connor Hellebuyck in net) are forthcoming. Of course it pays to pay attention so we will be sure to check back for the pre-game report for any updates. Morning skate gets underway at 10:30 AM and puck drop is at 6 PM CST.
Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Florida, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 8:40 PM CST.
Note III: The Moose got some good production from the bottom of the lineup but a quiet night from the top nine meant they weren’t able to build any momentum from their win on Wednesday. They would see a 2-1 3rd period lead dissolve into a 3-2 loss. They are back in action tonight in Chicago as they close out their five-game road trip. Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.
Note IV: Join us for two hours of Jets talk on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show starting at 9 AM CDT as we reflect on the week that was in Jetsland, review the game between the Jets/Lightning, preview Jets/Pamthers, discuss all the latest news about the NHL and AHL clubs of Manitoba and maybe toss in some Jets prospect talk. Guests include Scott Billeck of the Winnipeg Sun and Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press.
Note V: Lots of Jets prospects in action on Friday night and here is your rundown. In the OHL 2023 5th rounder Jacob Julien had his first two goal game of the season for London, 2023 1st rounder Colby Barlow had a power play goal which was his fifth in last seven games as he starts to get going after a slow start, 2024 6th rounder Kieron Walton had a goal and three assists for Sudbury as he continues to produce, while his best friend and 2024 4th rounder Kevin He picked up a goal for Niagara which gives him 17 on the season (second most in league). While he isn’t a Jets prospect he’s Jets adjacent and since he was facing off against Kevin He I took note that ‘Mad’ Max Namestnikov (Vlad’s younger brother) had his second straight four point game. In college action 2023 3rd rounder Zach Nehring had an assist for Western Michigan.
