Note: The Jets hit the ice for a practice on Tuesday during this odd quirk in the schedule where they’ve got four days between games. We received a progress report on Logan Stanley after he joined his teammates on the ice in a yellow, non-contact uniform and we learned that Jaret Anderson-Dolan had sustained a broken foot during the preseason which is why he had been recalled and placed on IR. We heard from Dylan DeMelo (here), Nino Niederreiter (here) and head coach Scott Arniel (here). Today they are scheduled to hit the ice at 11 AM CDT at hockey for all centre, which will be an optional skate according to head coach Scott Arniel. Stay tuned for the Practice Report.
Note II: The Moose also skated yesterday at hockey for all centre which saw the return of Jets prospect Chaz Lucius whose ice time the team is managing early in the season. Not much changed for them at practice after winning both games this past weekend other than one swap of a pair of wingers. We did hear from prospects Danny Zhilkin (here) and Domenic DiVincentiis (here). They have another day of practice scheduled for this morning at the hockey for all centre starting at 10:30 AM CDT.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Security allowing Jets’ Scheifele, Hellebuyck, to focus: Arniel. As I’ve said numerous times on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show now that the pair have lifetime security they are both free to focus solely on legacy building and that comes with a Championship. While I’m not suggesting they weren’t focused on this goal in previous years the fact is that becomes even more laser focused.
Winnipeg Sun: Sun shining, Winnipeg Jets making hay. That was quite the quote from Nino Niederreiter as the veteran understood the importance of securing points early in the season.
Winnipeg Free Press: Undefeated Winnipeg Jets off to best start in club history. (Paywall). Banking standings points in the early part of the season is massive so you can offset any drops in play later in the year.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets’ defence a big part of offence. (Paywall). While perusing the standings in the Central hard not to notice that the Jets goals against is vastly better (even after just a few games) than six of the seven other teams in their division. Collective team effort seems to be a theme they’ve continued this season which they’ve used to also activate the D as we saw in the game against the Wild.
The Athletic Winnipeg: Why Jets’ Connor Hellebuyck is the most underappreciated goalie of his generation. (Paywall). Just a fantastic read from Murat who along with his colleague Jesse Granger gives you phenomenal insight into the two-time Vezina winner.

TSN: Jets forced to cool off with schedule break following torrid 3-0 start to season. The Jets have gotten off to a dream start with three wins through as many games but the team is cautious not to get too complacent, acknowledging there is still more to work on. A perfect opportunity to work on things presents itself with the team not playing again until Friday.
