Note: The panic button is not yet blaring but there remains no resolution between unsigned RFA Cole Perfetti and the Jets. There was a little more from Elliotte Friedman on Monday as he spoke about “The nicest contract dispute ever” on 32 Thoughts Podcast. Might we see something before training camp gets underway tomorrow? Stay tuned.
Note II: We should have some insight into training camp schedule soon so stay tuned for that as well.
Note III: Yesterday was the final Young Stars game for the Jets young guns as they took on the Oilers in the third and final game of the tournament. Here were some of the relevant clips from the 2-0 Winnipeg win: Feisty Chibrikov | Liwiski big hit | Anhorn one to watch | Torgersson goal | Thomas Milic battler | Anhorn hit | Colby Barlow pugilist | Nikkanen goal | Yager faceoff efficiency | Combined shutout |
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ rookies show promising future in Penticton. Two wins of three games in the tournament out west with a number of players acquitting themselves quite well.
Winnipeg Sun: Nikolaj Ehlers not worried about lame-duck status. He wasn’t really showing his hand on Monday but it’s also entirely possible that he doesn’t have a hand to show right now.
Jets official site: Three things from game 3 of Young Stars Tournament. Jamie wraps things up from Penticton with his final three things column which touches on: 1) Milic had a solid tournament. 2) Big day for Daniel Torgersson. 3) Brayden Yager fitting in.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets tee it up for charity. (Paywall). Good way to raise money for the True North Foundation while also getting the players interacting with members of the community.
Winnipeg Free Press: Chibrikov strikes early and often. (Paywall). As we saw last year with the Moose, the feisty forward isn’t afraid to use his mitts in ways other than just scoring goals, although he showed he was quite capable of that as well.

TSN: ‘I have nothing new to tell’: Ehlers reveals no progress made on contract extension. There have been hopes amongst Jets fans that speedy forward Nikolaj Ehlers would emulate Connor Hellebuyck and Mark Scheifele from a year ago by inking a new contract extension before the season. When speaking at the team’s golf tournament, Ehlers revealed some talks have occurred, but no progress has been made. TSN’s John Lu has more on Ehlers’ status, and where the Cole Perfetti negotiations are.
TSN: Jets ready to ‘adapt’ heading into new season. Happy that many of the core guys are returning, the Jets are excited to see where things go with a new coach, and are ready to adapt to the upcoming changes from within the team, and what the opposition presents.
