Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: Training camp is around the corner and the Jets still have Cole Perfetti left to sign. Although Darren Dreger shed some light on the situation this morning.

Note II: Some news about the Moose as play-by-play voice Daniel Fink became just the third ever winner of the James H Ellery Memorial Award covering Manitoba in the AHL.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: Which NHL teams have made the most of early draft picks? This looks at drafts from 2010 to 2019 (which means they factored in the final season in Atlanta for Winnipeg’s assessment) as they focus on skaters who have played 200 NHL games. He has the Jets in the third tier.

Sportsnet: Which NHL teams have been most successful at the draft? This was the first part in the series which as indicated above reflects data from 10 years of drafting (2010-2019) to see how many players got to 200 NHL games. He’s got Winnipeg/Atlanta in 26th at 17.46% (11 players of 63 drafted) and before you pillory the Thrashers they did contribute one 200+ player in Alexander Burmistrov who played a total of 348 NHL games. And not to quibble but including Burmistrov would give Jets 12 (not 11) and if you include Jansen Harkins (at 199 games) it seems like it should be 13 of 63. Speaking of the 2015 draft class it’s a reminder that was quite the two days in Sunrise, Florida.
