Note: As September rolls around and all this month we wanted to bring to your attention the Pass it Forward program which provides help to youth in Winnipeg who wish to play hockey but require aid in getting the necessary equipment. The program is in it’s 4th year, they have a brand new website, an active twitter feed @PassItForwardca, and they are giving away a team-signed picture of last season’s opening faceoff. Yahoo Canada:  Pick Adam Lowry off to Swift start.  Hopefully he can stay healthy all season and continue to develop.

CBA news:

CBC:  Lockout Day 7 – Fan’s Comment of the Day.  If you want your voice heard CBC will be giving you a venue to offer up some pithy comments.

Sportsnet:  Not just about the cash.  While these other issues are important they don’t come close to the issue of money.

Detroit Free Press:  NHL fines Red Wings for comments calling players ‘cattle’.  It will serve as a lesson to other GMs and team employees to keep their mouths closed.

New York Times:  Exploring Europe’s options as NHL players seek work.  If you don’t know anything about the leagues your favourite NHL players are heading off to, give this article a read as it provides you with all the information from the KHL to the German D.E.L.

New York Daily News:  NHL labor talks between players, owners turn ice-cold with no end in sight.  Simply pathetic on both sides of the negotiating table.

NHL news:

Calgary Sun:  WHL Hitmen put 8000-plus fans in stands for home-opener.  Impressive but not overwhelming numbers to start the season.

Buffalo News:  Sabres see prospects game as opportunity.  The USHL is trying to spread its sphere of influence and getting into Buffalo might be a nice boost for the league.
