Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets continue to roll despite many thinking they didn’t have a very good shot against a Stars team in Dallas that they hadn’t beaten all year long and could have, with a win, clinched top spot in the Central division. Instead Laurent Brossoit made all the stops in a 3-0 win that saw guys up and down the lineup contributing to their 49th victory of the season. They are scheduled to practice today in Colorado as they prepare to face the Avs on Saturday afternoon to conclude four straight games on the road. Stay tuned for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose had a second straight day of practice where we heard from Ville Heinola (watch here) and Axel Jonsson-Fjällby (watch here) as they prepare for a big weekend two-game set with the Wild. Today’s practice should be informative as we learn if 2023 1st rounder Colby Barlow will make his regular season debut although I suspect he won’t as Manitoba continues to push for a playoff spot. Stay tuned for the Practice Report.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets issue statement with shutout win in Dallas. No other way to see it as they continue to build momentum to the playoffs.

Winnipeg Sun: Bowness goes back to Connor, Scheifele; Lowry hits 700. Given the chemistry they’ve found on the line with 27-23-73 it may not be such a bad thing. Of course the numbers haven’t been too favourable for the trio of 81-55-13. Speaking of numbers it was a significant game for the Jets captain on Thursday night.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets shine with total team effort to blank Stars 3-0. (Paywall). From the goalie out the Jets played a determined and complete game which allowed them to defeat a very good Stars team. Wieber was in the building and filed this game report.

Winnipeg Free Press: Opportunity knocks and Stanley answers. (Paywall). This was a pre-game feature from Ken but still a good read post-game.

Dallas News: No celebration yet as Stars shut out by Jets, remain one win away from division clinch. Read about the game from the perspective of a writer that covers the Jets opponent.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Jets player poll, part 1: Most underrated, funniest, best dressing room DJ and more. (Paywall). Anonymous insight into the Jets from the players themselves using Murat as a conduit.

Jets prospect news:

Winnipeg Free Press: McGroarty’s stellar season ends as Michigan falls to Boston College in Frozen Four. (Paywall). Will he stay or will he go now? That slightly modified Clash lyric is a question Jets fans are asking about the other 2022 1st rounder in the stable of prospects. Might he return to Michigan for a chance to be captain? Or might he join the pro ranks (my guess is with the Moose).
