Note: The Jets were off on Tuesday after picking up a 4-3 win over the Kings on Monday night. We did learn after the game from head coach Rick Bowness that Nino Niederreiter suffered a cut to his leg which required stitches which is why he didn’t play the final 12 minutes of the game. The other lineup question mark is Tyler Toffoli who was under the weather and didn’t play against L.A. Today they are scheduled to practice at 10:30 AM CDT so check back for the Practice Report.
Note II: The Moose were looking to bank more standings points last night in Abbotsford where they kicked off a quick, two-game trip to the west coast with the first of two against the Canucks starting on Tuesday evening. Manitoba started well including goals from Ville Heinola (here) and Jeff Malott (here) but were unable to build on those leads and ultimately they fell 4-3 to the home team. These two teams are back at it tonight with puck drop at 9 PM CDT.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Fate hands Jets a kernel of hope. If not for the illness to Tyler Toffoli it seems likely Cole Perfetti isn’t playing in the game on Monday or at the least he wasn’t likely to be on that second line. But he was and he certainly made the most of it.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets rolled with punches, landed knockout blow. The boxing analogy seems apt and is one I used myself to describe the type of back and forth we saw between these two clubs.
Winnipeg Free Press: Perfetti’s perseverence pays off with huge night against Kings. (Paywall). One thing about Cole Perfetti that I don’t think of is the word “quit”. You get the sense that the 1st rounder from 2020 will attack any challenge head on.
The Athletic Winnipeg: How Winnipeg Jets’ Cole Perfetti stepped up after string of healthy scratches: ‘It’s not been easy’. (Paywall). No point lamenting your lot in life. Just gotta pick yourself up by your bootstraps and get to work.

TSN: Jets snap longest winless skid of season. TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss how the Jets were able to end their longest losing streak of the season against the Kings and if they still have a chance to win the Central Division.
