Note: The Jets used Wednesday as a travel day heading to Texas where they kick off three games on the road. Morning skate for the Jets gets underway at 11:30 AM CST. All the relevant news will be posted in the pre-game report so check back for that. Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.

Note II: Reminder to join us tonight at Boston Pizza Grant Park (located at 1160 Taylor Avenue) at puck drop and then after the game for a live broadcast of the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show.

Note III: The Moose practiced yesterday (mostly special teams) as they prepare for a Stars team this weekend that sit well above them in the division. There was some big news as head coach Mark Morrison advised that Jets prospect Danny Zhilkin was out for the season. They have another day of practice today and we will have another Practice Report for your perusal.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets face stiff test in showdown with Central Division rival Stars. (Paywall). And Kenny wrote this BEFORE the Stars acquired Chris Tanev from the Flames last night. The battle for top of the Central should be a good one.

Winnipeg Free Press: Everybody wins when Jets players mentor youth hockey players. (Paywall). Becoming members of this community in different facets is part of what is important to entrenching pro hockey players as part of this community and not just guys who are here for work. Of course the kids just are happy to have Jets players giving them insight.

Winnipeg Sun: Red-hot Jets tear into Texas … Mark Chipman says rap against Winnipeg ‘aggravating’. Paul wrote about tonight’s premier matchup, Chipman’s comments in the fireside chat and comparing the Jets to the Coyotes off the ice.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets winning games they would have lost this time last season. Last year at this time when panic was setting in these were games the club was not winning. This season, despite the 5 on 5 play loosening up during this stretch, the team has won seven of their last eight as they continue to battle for top spot in the Central.

The Hockey News: Why the Bruins, Oilers, Canucks, Jets and Stars should go all-in. Jacob makes the case why Winnipeg and four other clubs need to push their chips to the middle of the table as they challenge for the Cup.

Global News: Jets’ Morrissey is as good as any defender in NHL. He is one of the most pragmatic players you can speak with as he handles his success and lack thereof with an evenness that doesn’t allow him to get too high or too low regardless of which he is experiencing.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets Setting.
