Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets looked liked they were cruising along to another win last night which they did eventually get to but it required extra time as the Hawks fought back to tie the game in the last minute of the 3rd before Kyle Connor got his 47th GWG in OT to win it 3-2 for Winnipeg. Today they are back in Manitoba where they are scheduled to practice at 1 PM CST. Stay tuned for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose have a re-match with the Calgary Wranglers after last night’s 5-2 loss which was the third straight loss for the AHL club of Manitoba which is less than ideal given they had put themselves back into playoff contention after going 6-2-1 on the road. Puck drop is at 6 PM CST.

Note III: Be sure to join us this morning for the Illegal Curve Hockey Show for two hours of Jets talk starting at 9 AM. We will be joined by Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Free Press and Marty Biron of TSN.

The Athletic: Jets ownership sounds the alarm on attendance: ‘Not going to work over the long haul’. (Paywall). Couple of things. 1) They reportedly have only 15% corporate sales when most NHL teams are at 40% minimum. That’s a lot to ask from one of the smallest fan bases in the legaue. 2) This comment hits hard: “We’ve had to reinvent ourselves,” Chipman said. “For 10 years, we weren’t a sales organization; we were a service organization, and I’m not sure we were that good of a service organization, to be honest with you.”.
