Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets have run their winning streak to three games after an impressive 4-2 win over the NHL leading Canucks in Vancouver on Saturday night. They took the day off on Sunday ahead of their afternoon contest against the Flames in Calgary. Presumably, because of the start time, there won’t be a morning skate although perhaps they’ll hold an early optional given they didn’t skate yesterday. Of course it’s the first game of a back-to-back so possible they want to keep the legs fresh. All the relevant news will be posted in the pre-game report so check back for that. Puck drop is at 3 PM CST.

Note II: This afternoon, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Calgary, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game.

Note III: The Moose look to get a measure of revenge against an Admirals team that remains unbeaten in 2024 (16-0-0) which includes a 4-0 Milwaukee win over Manitoba on Saturday afternoon. It was a tight game until the 3rd (1-0 after 40) but then the visitors blew it open. The re-match goes at 2 PM CST this afternoon in downtown Winnipeg.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Monahan finds his stride with Winnipeg Jets, eyes Calgary clash next. (Paywall). He popped in his first goal and now gets to return to where it all began for him in Calgary. Even though it had only been a few games Monahan had to want to get on the scoresheet to feel like he’s contributing.

Winnipeg Sun: Scheifele showed leadership, grit in unstoppable showing vs. Canucks. I thought 55 was excellent in that win right from the time in the first period when Zadorov hit him until the final buzzer.

Calgary Sun: Flames try to keep the mood light amid losing streak. For insight into the Jets opponent check this out.

Illegal Curve Hockey Show: Saturday PodcastOn the show this past Saturday morning we spoke about the Jets offensive drought, the choice to not reunite Ehlers, Scheifele and Vilardi, trade targets for Winnipeg three weeks to deadline, Ville Heinola as an “internal add” for the team and if this team need an add at forward/on defence/both? We were joined by Ted Wyman of the Winnipeg Sun and International Influencer Chuck Hellebuyck (and father of Jets goalie Connor Hellebuck).
