Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: While most of the Jets are off for All-Star weekend three members of the team (Connor Hellebuyck, Kyle Connor and head coach Rick Bowness) are in Toronto for the festivities. If you are interested the All-Star game gets underway at 2 PM CST.

Note II: Some big news on Friday morning as the Jets and Habs made a deal that saw Sean Monahan sent to Winnipeg for draft picks.

Note III: The day began with the news that defenceman Kyle Capobianco had been named to All-Star weekend. Moose had an excellent opening period in Milwaukee against the white-hot Admirals who came into the game having won  11 straight but it was Manitoba who got off to the hot start outshooting the home team 12-5 after 20 minutes. They continued to play well scoring twice on the same shorthanded penalty kill (Nicholas Jones and Kristian Reichel) but then it started to break down. A missed offside gave the Admirals some life as they scored on the play and then continued to roll on way to scoring five straight (three in 2nd and two in the 3rd). The win gave the Admirals 12 straight victories while the Moose loss arrests their win streak at three. Tonight they are in Rockford to conclude the pre All-Star schedule at 7 PM CST.

Note IV: Be sure to join us this morning for the 15th Anniversary of the Illegal Curve Hockey Show. From the start back in 2009 on Red River Radio (Kick FM) to the move to Sportsradio 1290 which became TSN 1290 to our present incarnation on YouTube it has been a great decade and a half talking hockey with the boys and all of you. The show starts at 9 AM. We will be joined by Jets associate coach Scott Arniel and two-time Stanley Cup champ Bobby Holik.
