Note: The Jets record for consecutive games without allowing three goals or less concluded last night (at 34 straight games) after the Bruins defeated them 4-1 in Boston. They fell one game shy of the modern record set by the 2014-15 Minnesota Wild (35 games) and the all-time record by the Bruins in 1928-29 (44 games). They are in Ontario today where they get to play a home and home against the Leafs which starts tomorrow in downtown Toronto. They are scheduled to practice today so check back for the Practice Report.
Note II: There was some big prospect news on Monday as 2021 1st rounder Chaz Lucius will be having season ending ankle surgery.
Note III: The Moose had a day off on Sunday and a practice on Monday where we learned the news about Chaz Lucius and we also were made aware that Brad Lambert is a possible for the game despite the fact he didn’t skate with the team yesterday. Later in the afternoon it was announced the team had recalled Jets goalie prospect Thomas Milic from the ECHL. Tonight they are right back into game mode when they host the Wolves this evening as they look to forget the disappointment from this past weekend and move forward against another division rival. Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Bruins deny Jets of history in 4-1 win. Oh what could have been. While streaks are nice and give us something to talk about I suspect the only streak folks on the NHL team of Winnipeg care about is the one that sees a team pick up 16 wins (not necessarily in a row) in June.
Winnipeg Free Press: Short-handed Jets fall 4-1 to Bruins. (Paywall). No Scheifele. No Vilardi. No good. While that is a bit oversimplified the Jets were clearly missing some upper echelon talent when they took on the best team in the East last night in Boston. Wieber gives you his recp from his spot inside the arena.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets’ forward follows in footsteps of mentor as role model for Swiss players. (Paywall). A good read by Kenny on the Jets resident Swiss Army Knife.
Global News: Jets lose 4-1 in Boston for worst defeat since early November. Russ and Christian teamed up for this game recap.
