Note: The Jets held a highly optional practice on Wednesday before they took off on their mentors trip which will see them play three games in four days. With it being a gameday all eyes will be on morning skate which gets underway at 1:30 PM CST. All the relevant news will be posted in the pre-game report so check back for that. Puck drop is at 9:30 PM CST.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and San Jose, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game.

Note III: The Moose held a practice on Wednesday as they continue to prepare to face the Senators this weekend in Winnipeg. They will be doing it without Chaz Lucius, Wyatt Bongiovanni and Carson Golder as the three are all dealing with various ailments. The team is off today.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Road trip to remember as fathers/mentors join club on western swing. (Paywall). There were five coaches in the stands on Wednesday before the team jetted off to San Jose. Wieber details the trip that players look forward to each season.

Winnipeg Sun: ‘MEMORIES FLOOD THROUGH’: Fathers trip still special for Jets’ Josh Morrissey. Morrissey is a class act and that really comes through in this article by Paul. Changing the name to mentors is also considerate as it allows for guys in his situation to feel included.

Global News: What upgrades could surging Jets make in season’s second half? It really feels like the team will make an addition on the right side of their defence and maybe add some centre depth as this team is showing that it could potentially make some playoff noise.

The Mercury News: Sharks feel they’re playing better now than in October. Here’s why it’s still not enough. Gain some insight in the Jets opponent.

Jets video:

Sportsnet: Should Hartman have received a tougher punishment from NHL for high stick on Perfetti? The Hockey Central panel debate whether Minnesota Wild’s Ryan Hartman should have received stricter punishment for his intentional high stick on Cole Perfetti, after Brendan Dillon’s injured their star player Kirill Kaprizov in the previous game. (Editor’s Note: Watch this at risk of becoming two intelligence points dumber).

The Hockey Guy: Discussing the remarkable first half of the Winnipeg Jets season. They were down early in the season, but they’re not down anymore. Attendance has trended back up as the team’s fortunes have trended up on the ice, too.
