Note: The Jets were off on Sunday as they cancelled practice following an impressive 6-2 defeat of the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night. With it being a gameday all eyes will be on morning skate which gets underway at 9:30 AM CST. All the relevant news will be posted in the pre-game report so check back for that. Puck drop is at 6:30 PM CST.
Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Montreal, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game.
Note III: The Moose were looking to avenge a tough loss on Friday night to their division rival Admirals and that’s just what they did on Sunday afternoon as they came back to defeat Milwaukee by a final score of 6-4. Be sure to check out the game recap for the full 411.
Note IV: Decided to check to see how some Jets prospects were doing on Sunday so looked in on two of them. 1) Netminder Thomas Milic is continuing to have a fantastic rookie season with Norfolk sitting with a 9-2-1 record, a save % of .920 and a goals against average of 2.24. In fact he had a career high 39 saves on 40 shots in his last game. 2) Clearly I’ve been a bit remiss with Jacob Julien of the OHL who is having a heck of a good second year in junior. He’s up to 14 goals and 24 assists for 38 points in 32 games which ties him for 15th in OHL scoring. 3) While I extensively cover Nikita Chibrikov and Brad Lambert in the game recap it’s worth noting that the duo are doing quite well amongst AHL rookies (ranked 4th/7th based on Pt/G).
Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets’ defence dominating. (Paywall). You can see it from them as a collective group. A number of the goals against the Avs were the result of better defensive coverage from all five Jets players on the ice. Long read from Ken but given the paucity of other Jets articles this morning that’s not a bad thing.
The Athletic Winnipeg: Jets mailbag: Rick Bowness’ impact? Shaking up the defence? (Paywall). Missed this from a few days back but thankfully the questions were time sensative so enjoy the answers Murat provided to many Jets related questions.
