Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: It was a newsy Friday in Jetsland as we learned that Vlad Namestnikov would miss the next one to two games with an injury sustained on Thursday and that Declan Chisholm would draw in for his first NHL game in 23 months. With it being an afternoon gameday no morning skate. All the relevant news will be posted in the pre-game report so check back for that. Puck drop is at 2 PM CST.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Chicago, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game.

Note III: The Moose started off the two-game homestand with a big effort against an IceHogs team they had gone 0-3-0 against prior to last night. Despite going down 1-0 they played well with Dominic Toninato tied the game, then Wyatt Bongiovanni gave them a lead on the power play, then Jeffrey Viel scored his first which turned out to be the GWG while Jeff Malott salted it away with the empty net dagger. Manitoba now 8-9-0 on the season as they won it 4-2 over Rockford. They will practice this morning at 10:30 AM CST at hockey for all centre as they prepare for tomorrow’s afternoon re-match.

Note IV: How about you join us this morning for two hours of Winnipeg Jets talk on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show which gets underway at 9 AM sharp. We will be joined by Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press and Daniel Fink of the Manitoba Moose.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets Notebook. In Scott’s latest he covers a number of topics including Declan Chisholm season debut, Vlad Namestnikov’s injury, Cole Perfetti back to the middle and Connor Bedard’s wizardry.

Winnipeg Free Press: Where have all the goals gone? (Paywall). It’s somewhat difficult to win hockey games when you cannot put the puck into the back of your opponents net. Doesn’t matter if your goalie stops all but one or all but five if you cannot light the lamp and lately that’s been a problem for Winnipeg. They’ve scored three goals in their last three games which included being shutout by Dallas.

Global News: John Shannon on the Jets. Who is the Winnipeg Jets first-quarter MVP? Where do they rank among the NHL’s Canadian teams? Are they missing something that would make them a contender in the West? 680 CJOB hockey analyst John Shannon breaks it down.
