Note: The Jets had a big Central division battle last night with the Stars which saw the home team lose 2-0 as their power play failed them big time which means a team that didn’t do much losing in November has just lost back-to-back games. Today they are scheduled to practice in downtown Winnipeg so check back for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose hit the ice for practice yesterday in Winnipeg which saw them add Jets defence prospect Dmitry Kuzmin who had been with Norfolk in the ECHL. They have another day of practice this morning so stay tuned for the Moose Practice Report.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Special teams keeps Jets grounded in loss to Stars. Two missed opportunities on a 5 on 3 was the difference as there was definitely points left on the board by Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Sun: Less ‘me’ in Winnipeg Jets room this year? We’ll see. Is a selfless mantra the new norm?

Winnipeg Sun: Get fired as an NHL coach? Expect a text from Jets’ Rick Bowness. The coaching fraternity isn’t made up of a lot of guys so it isn’t a surprise that they are all connected.

Winnipeg Sun: Improved five-on-five play big reason for Jets early success. This team has relied less on number 37 and instead displayed an improved game at even strength.

Winnipeg Free Press: Inability to capitalize with man advantage key in loss to Stars. (Paywall). Had they converted on the first 5 on 3 opportunity it felt like it would have completely changed the nature of that hockey game (says Captain Obvious).

Winnipeg Free Press: Time to give the Jets another look. (Paywall). There is no question this team is a very different one then Jets fans watched last season.

Global News: Jets stymied by Oettinger in 2-0 loss to Dallas. It was pretty clear who deserved to be named number one star of last night’s game.

The Athletic Winnipeg: A franchise icon, a rising hockey star and the bond that makes them better. (Paywall). Really good read on the bond between Mark Scheifele and Cole Perfetti.

Jets video:

TSN: Jets weren’t ready to take advantage of golden opportunities vs. StarsThe Jets were shutout by the Stars and lost back-to-back games for the third time this season. TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button examines why Winnipeg came up short against Dallas, and what has stood out to him about the Jets so far this season.
