Note: The Jets wrapped up their five-game homestand last night against the Coyotes. You knew it would be a good game as Hoosli was singing the national anthems. Winnipeg crowd reacted rather enthusiastically when they saw up on the Jumbotron that Kyle Connor was the NHL league leader in goals. They also approved of Brenden Dillon when he stuck up for his teammates. Ultimately the biggest cheers was for the home team continuing their winning ways defeating the Coyotes 5-2 to conclude the homestand 4-1-0. They are off today.
Note II: Unlike the NHL club of Winnipeg, the AHL team in the ‘Peg has had a November to forget. That theme continued on Saturday in Toronto as they got demolished 7-2 by the Marlies. They lost Dominic Toninato first thing in the AM to a recall. Netminder Collin Delia, who had just returned after dealing with a sore groin, was pulled after giving up three goals on five shots which meant goalie prospect Thomas Milic would be making his fourth appearance (two starts, two in relief). Lone bright spots were goals by Parker Ford (see here) and Nikita Chibrikov (see here). Jets prospect Chaz Lucius was given the game off as the team manages his minutes (he played the night before in their 3-2 win). Manitoba will conclude their three-games in three days this afternoon in Toronto with a re-match against the Marlies. Puck drop is at 3 PM CST.
Note III: Jets 2022 1st rounder Rutger McGroarty had a brutal fall into the boards on Friday night which necessitated him going to hospital for observation. His Michigan club sent out this tweet on his behalf showing him in a hospital gown flashing a thumbs up thanking folks for their concern.
Note IV: Good luck to the Bombers who are playing for their third Grey Cup in the last four seasons when they take on Alouettes in Hamilton. Kick off is at 5:23 PM CST.
