Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets were on the ice on Monday for a practice as they prepared for the next game on their homestand which will be tonight when they welcome the Devils to town. With it being a gameday all eyes will be on morning skate which gets underway at 10:30 AM CST. All the relevant news will be posted in the pre-game report so check back for that. Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and New Jersey, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game.

Note III: Jets associate coach Scott Arniel with a health update on Gabriel Vilardi. In other news Kyle Connor was named Second Star of the Week by the NHL.

Note IV: The Moose had a disastrous two days in the ‘Peg as they got smoked on Sunday and demolished on Monday. Yesterday was the first school day game of the season so it was unfortunate with approximately 7000 in the building (mostly screaming kids) the result wasn’t any different from the day before. Aside from a nice Thomas Milic save in his first ever AHL start or a ‘here comes the boom’ hit (or with music here) by Nikita Chibrikov there wasn’t much to celebrate in game 10 of the season. The Moose are off today.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ Hellebuyck adapting to Winnipeg’s ‘new game’. Considering no goalie has faced more shots than Connor Hellebuyck since he became a starter in the NHL, perhaps he isn’t used to only facing an average of 26 shots per game. Jokes aside Scott spoke with the netminder about his start to the season

Winnipeg Free Press: Ehlers working hard to find form after missing training camp. (Paywall). For all the maligning training camp gets it can be pretty evident when guys miss it (either due to injury as in Ehlers case or as we’ve seen when there is a contract dispute). Starting at leg 1 of a race when everyone else is at leg 4 makes it difficult to close that gap.

Winnipeg Free Press: Connor Hellebuyck holding his head high. (Paywall). Considering the 5 on 5 play and now special teams, once the goaltending catches up it would make for a very interesting Jets club.

Winnipeg Sports Talk: Jets Week in Review. Connor Hrabchak hosts Winnipeg Jets Weekly – a review of the past week in Winnipeg Jets news and a look ahead of what’s to come. Connor looks back on the Jets 2-1 stretch through the Central Division which had the top line putting up some big offensive numbers.

Moose news:

Illegal Curve Hockey: Kids brought energy to Project 11 School Day game but Moose cannot match it and Rocket take it 5-2. Get the full story from yesterday’s game including lineup news, notable factoids, post-game media and more.
