Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets start on Saturday afternoon wasn’t very good as they found themselves down 2-0 to the Coyotes but a Nino Niederreiter hat trick, the play of the “third” line and the first ever multi goal game by Brenden Dillon was enough to power them to a 5-3 victory. The Minnesota contingent had a plane chartered for them by the organization to their home state after the game so they could attend Adam Johnson’s funeral and celebration of life. The rest of the team is remaining in Arizona where they’ll have a day off today. Believe they will practice in Tempe on Monday before they fly to St. Louis.

Note II: The Moose welcomed the IceHogs to Winnipeg on Saturday with both clubs coming in having won two straight. Like the parent club the AHL team in Manitoba found themselves playing catch-up which they did a couple of times. First it was Axel Jonsson-Fjallby who buried this pass and then it was Jets prospect Brad Lambert who wired home this shot on a 4 on 3. They would get one more as rookie/Jets prospect Nikita Chibrikov scored very late but it was too little too late and Manitoba lost 4-3 to Rockford. They’ll have a re-match this afternoon with puck drop at 2 PM.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Nino Niederreiter wants Jets extension, with agent set for Winnipeg visit. Scott’s first column on Saturday night was entitled ‘It’s time to extend Nino Niederreiter’s stay in Winnipeg.’ and then shortly after that he tweeted out the news about the desire for an extension.
