Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets are in Vegas where they will kick off their three-game road trip against the undefeated (in regulation) Golden Knights who have just one overtime loss to blemish an otherwise perfect nine wins in ten games record including one victory in Winnipeg. With it being a gameday all eyes will be on morning skate which gets underway at 1 PM CDT. All the relevant news will be posted in the pre-game report so check back for that. Puck drop is at 9 PM CDT.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Vegas, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game.

Note III: Who has Jets related questions? Ken Wiebe and Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press have opened their mailbag for your questions. Send them a DM if you’d like an answer to your query.

Note IV: The Moose were off on Wednesday but return to the ice today in downtown Winnipeg as they continue to spend their time preparing for the Rockford IceHogs who they face these weekend at Canada Life.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: ‘Just trying to be safe’: tragedy sparks Jets to try extra protection. Makes a lot of sense to do whatever you can to be as safe as possible.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets players try neck guards in practice. (Paywall). Sounds like the equipment staff are busy looking into a number of different options.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets’ versatile forward latest in family to making a living playing shinny. (Paywall). Really interesting read from Mike on the Swiss-Army knife (who is not Swiss).

Global News: 10 games in, Jets need to focus on special teamsAs mentioned beside the below link, ain’t nothing special about the Jets special teams right now. I find the PK to be the more surprising of the two to be honest. Last year the PP wasn’t particularly good (finishing 23rd overall) so with largely same personal is it a real surprise it isn’t any better? But the PK was 7th best in the NHL and through nine games they are sitting 29th overall.
