Note: The Jets travelled to Vegas on Tuesday rather than hitting the ice for a practice first and one can hardly blame them as they get into the Nevada sun a little early. Today they are set to hit the ice for a practice at 1 PM CDT at T-Mobile Arena. Stay tuned for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose were off on Monday and travelled on Sunday so after two days off the players hit the ice on Tuesday for a long time. Over an hour on the ice and some players spent over two hours on their skates. Of course they are off today as well so it makes sense why they spent so much time on the ice yesterday. They’ll be back on the ice on Thursday as they prepare for their weekend series with Rockford.

Note III: We learned, courtesy of Pierre LeBrun, that former Jets forward Paul Stastny was hanging up his skates after 17 seasons in the NHL (parts of three of which were spent in Winnipeg).

Jets news:

Global News: 10 games in, Jets need to focus on special teams. As mentioned beside the below link, ain’t nothing special about the Jets special teams right now. I find the PK to be the more surprising of the two to be honest. Last year the PP wasn’t particularly good (finishing 23rd overall) so with largely same personal is it a real surprise it isn’t any better? But the PK was 7th best in the NHL and through nine games they are sitting 29th overall.

Winnipeg Sun: How much better could Jets be if special teams were working? That was the difference in the game against the Rangers. They currently have the 28th ranked power play in the NHL and their penalty kill is ranked 29th. Not very good says captain obvious.

Winnipeg Free Press: Cole Perfetti taking game to new level. (Paywall). He continues to be more and more noticeable and it’s for all the right reasons.

NHL.com: Nikolaj Ehlers hitting his stride. That’s good news for Winnipeg because they’ll need number 27 to be a big part of their offence.

Jets video:

TSN: Jets got ‘some encouraging performances’ in loss to Rangers. TSN Hockey analyst Frankie Corrado joins SportsCentre to break down the Jets overtime loss to the Rangers, their battle throughout the game to earn a point in the standings and playing with something to prove.

Moose news:

Illegal Curve Hockey: Practice Report. Covers skate notes, rookies (Brad Lambert & Nikita Chibrikov) doing alright, Danny Zhilkin’s first pro goal, health updates (Simon Lundmark & Chaz Lucius) and media avails with Jeff Malott, Danny Zhilkin and coach Mark Morrison.
