Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets left for Alberta on Friday for a one-game road trip needed a win to prove the naysayers wrong as, despite strong showings through four games, their 1-3-0 record wasn’t leaving fans feeling warm and fuzzy. They picked up a big 3-2 OT win last night in Edmonton as they improved to 2-3-0 and will return home today for a one-game homestand which gets underway on Tuesday. As it is a travel day today there is no media availability.

Note II: The Moose were looking to bounce back after a tough loss on Friday and 23 hours after that they did just that with a big 8-2 victory over the Wild to split the weekend series and improve to 2-2-0 on the season. There were a multitude of contributors including: Nicholas Jones | Jeff Malott | C.J. Suess | Axel Jonsson-Fjallby | Parker Ford | Kyle Capobianco | Tyrel Bauer | Kyle Capobianco. Manitoba are off today.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: The Jets need a result and they got it. In March or April folks won’t recall how the Jets picked up the two points, simply that they banked them.

Winnipeg Sun: Hellebuyck rebounds, Scheifele pots fourth in OT win in Edmonton. The Jets needed number 37 to step up and while it didn’t look like that would be the case early in this hockey game he showed his Vezina form as he led his club to victory.

Winnipeg Free Press: Hellebuyck stands tall for Jets. (Paywall). Folks felt like it was only a matter of time before the only number 37 was back between the pipes.

Sportsnet: Already lacking ‘killer instinct,’ injury to McDavid could be next blow for Oilers. A view of things from someone who covers the Jets opponent.

Jets video:

Sportsnet: After Hours with Connor Hellebuyck. Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck joined Scott Oake and Louis DeBrusk on After Hours to discuss his contract negotiation process before signing a seven-year extension, give a peek into his visualization process, and much more.
