Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets took the day off on Sunday after they evened their record to 1-1 courtesy of a Saturday afternoon victory over the Panthers. Today they are back on the ice as they prepare for the return of Pierre-Luc Dubois with his L.A. Kings on Tuesday night. Today they will hit the ice for a practice at 11 AM at hockey for all centre. We will have it covered to keep it locked here for the Practice Report and be sure you’re following our Illegal Curve Hockey YouTube channel.

Note II: Things weren’t looking good for the Moose as they were in danger of starting the season 0-2 after finding themselves down 2-0 after 40 minutes in their Sunday afternoon re-match with the Wranglers. However they had a really strong 3rd period which saw them get goals from Jets prospects Chaz Lucius (see here) and Brad Lambert (see here) which forced overtime. The extra time felt like it was all Winnipeg (shots were 6-1 in favour of the home side) and after 2022 first rounder Lambert took what felt like 17 shots (it ended up being five) the last one went in off Dominic Toninato to give Manitoba the series split and their first win of the season. They are off today.

Jets news:

Global News: Jets have more motivation than just points in next two games. There is definitely a little extra emphasis courtesy of the schedule maker.

Winnipeg Free Press: Scheifele playing like Gordie Howe. (Paywall). In the entire 725 career NHL games for number 55 he has a total of four fights (interestingly they’ve all come in the 3rd period) so that was a bit unexpected but the goal and assist are right in his usual wheelhouse.
