Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The huge news on Monday was that the Jets had signed Connor Hellebuyck and Mark Scheifele to seven-year contract extensions. Today the team is scheduled to skate at 10:30 AM followed by the two newly signed players as well as head coach Rick Bowness and GM Kevin Cheveldayoff speaking at 11:30 AM. We will have it covered on our YouTube account so keep it locked here.

Note II: It was an already newsy day for Winnipeg as the three players they had placed on waivers all cleared and were assigned to the Moose. We also learned that Ville Heinola had successful surgery although his timeline didn’t appear to change. Be sure to check our the final day of training camp recap here.

Note III: The Moose got three new additions courtesy of the waiver wire on Monday. Right at the time that news came out the playing group began another exhibition game against the University of Manitoba Bisons. Following the game the Moose announced they had reduced the camp roster by five players. The team is mostly expected to stay off the ice today.

TSN: The timing of Scheifele and Hellebuyck’s contract extension was ‘surprising’. What changed, and what does it mean for the team moving forward? TSN’s John Lu has more.
