Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Bogosian expected to be out four to six monthsPerhaps a lockout wouldn’t be such a bad thing after all.  Without Bogosian in the lineup for this timeline the Jets are going to have to rely on someone else, perhaps Paul Postma, to step up and fill his roleTo read the official Jets statement on the surgery click here.

Puck Daddy: Atlanta Thrashers and Winnipeg Jets (1.0) Edition. Our own Drew Mindell (@icdrew) was asked to contribute to Puck Daddy’s “The Essentials for their franchises”, which covers everything from the defining player and trade, to the indispensable fan traditions.

CBA news:

USA Today:  Labor talks break off two weeks before deadlineShall be interesting to see what the next round of talks bring.

ESPN: Stop fighting battle of right or wrongThere really is no good vs. evil in this fight.  Appears to the average fan that it is greed vs. greed under the guise of cost certainty vs. livelihood.

SI.com: Lockout seems all but certainAfter the disappointing lack of urgency this past week it seems all but inevitable that the pre-season games will be lost.  Hopefully the NHL and NHLPA have some marathon sessions next week but that seems unlikely.

CBC:  NHL vs. NHLPA: Fans react on Twitter to Friday’s talksNot surprisingly the fans are taking to the twitter and unleashing their wrath on both the NHL and the NHLPA.

NHL news:

Globe and Mail: NHLers are not players, they’re entertainersA good read ahead of Bruce Dowbiggin’s appearance on today’s Illegal Curve Hockey Show on TSN Radio 1290.

The Tennessean: Predators lose charter airline flights for seasonWill the Preds be busing it around North America?  Would be more cost effective.  Based on the current CBA negotiations, I don’t suspect there is any urgency to getting this resolved before September 15th.

Toronto Star: Which NHL team had the best summer?  Not a good spot if you are a Jets fan.
