Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note: It remains a quiet time across the NHL but the Jets do have two remaining RFAs (Logan Stanley & Declan Chisholm) so we are expecting some news on that front eventually.

Note II: We are still in the dogs days of summer but our off-season series of chats with Jets draft picks has gotten underway. Yesterday I had a chance to chat with 2022 3rd rounder Danny Zhilkin which interview will be posted today (here) and I will be speaking later this morning with 2021 1st rounder Chaz Lucius which will be posted on our channel on either Sunday or Monday. Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Who’s flying this plane? Jets need a captain. (Paywall). It is either going to be 17 or 44  and I don’t think you can go wrong with either of those two choices.

Winnipeg Sun: Toews in Jets sweater would be full-circle moment. Might he be the Trade Deadline signing the Jets make to add to their depth? As Paul writes it would be quite the storybook ending for the Winnipeg product to return to his home province to help propel this team to the next level. 

Winnipeg Sun: Examining the Winnipeg Jets’ worst-case scenario. It would be a disaster for this franchise to lose both players for nothing next July because you wanted to make a playoff run. That would be the literal definition of the saying ‘short-term gain for long-term pain’.
