Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: We are now in the quiet stretch of time which silence may be broke with news of a signing of the remaining RFAs (Vilardi, Barron, Stanley & Chisholm) as well as a potential free agent or two. We did learn courtesy of the NHLPA the arbitration dates scheduled for Gabe Vilardi and Morgan Barron.

Note II: The Moose confirmed on Monday the signing of former forward/Jets draft pick CJ Suess to a two-year deal. It wasn’t “breaking news” as his agency had already reported the deal being in place last week.

Note III: Somehow I totally missed the news last week that the Sharks had signed former Jets prospect/Moose defenceman Leon Gawanke to a one-year, two-way contract.

Jets news:

TSN: Contract question complicates Hellebuyck trade. There’s always going to be a degree of risk committing to a 30-year old goalie, even one as good as the perennial Vezina contender (and past winner). Maybe a short-term deal can get done at a higher dollar value but there doesn’t seem to be much appetite right now for any sort of deal.

TSN: Pats GM, former Sens and Jets coach Paddock announces retirement. It was quite the career for the Manitoba product and former Jets 1.0 coach who decided to retire.

Illegal Curve Hockey: The reconnecting of fans to the Winnipeg Jets through their prospects. Fans and prospects really connected last week in Winnipeg.
