Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: It was the final day of Development Camp for the Jets yesterday. Following the on-ice portion a number of guys spoke including 2022 6th rounder Fabian Wagner (watch here), 2023 3rd rounder Zach Nehring (watch here), first rounder from 2023 Colby Barlow (watch here) who had a pretty hilarious answer to how he did in the escape room and prospect Tyrel Bauer who just completed his first year as a pro (watch here). For the full list of media availabilities from the four days of camp click here.

Note II: The news is a few days old although it was only reported by his agency and not yet confirmed by the team but O2K Sports Management is reporting that CJ Suess, who was drafted by Winnipeg, will be returning to the fold on a two-year deal with the Moose. Expect this to be made official by the team in the next day or so.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: Jets prospect Rutger McGroarty out to convince fans he’s worth the wait. He’s certainly made a ton of fans this week in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Free Press: Crazy pace for Jets prospects. (Paywall). It has been a whirlwind few weeks for the kids from the 2023 draft. Although as Tyrel Bauer (2020 7th rounder) noted even the adjustment for guys coming from overseas or guys coming to their first camps can be a lot. Mike wrote about the week that was.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets prospect Danny Zhilkin’s vision to de-stigmatize mental health. Impressive for such a young couple to have a desire to help others at a time in life when it is easy to focus on oneself.

The Athletic: Each NHL team’s biggest unaddressed need a week into free agency. (Paywall). One guess where they go with the Jets.
