Note: The Jets and Moose are all in offseason mode but is there really ever an offseason? If there is any news we will have it for you here.
Note II: The next big event on the NHL calendar will be the Entry Draft in Nashville which gets underway on June 28th (1st round) and June 29th (rounds 2-7). Remember to join us for live IC coverage on our YouTube channel of the first round of the Draft.
Note III: The Calder Cup was awarded last night as the Hershey Bears fought back from a two goal deficit in game 7 to defeat the Coachella Valley Firebirds (in their inaugural season) with this game-winner in OT. Winnipegger (and team captain) Dylan McIlrath is a Calder Cup champion for the second time in his pro career.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Plenty of budget options for Jets when free agency opens. What Winnipegger doesn’t like a good deal? Scott goes shopping ahead of July 1st.
Yahoo News: The Jets are looking at a long road back to contention if they sell their stars. The word to focus on in that headline is “if”. Because right now rumours have the Jets dealing four players, some players or no players. Even with Pierre-Luc Dubois, which I presume (and still mostly believe) will happen before or at the Draft, it seems like some folks are not quite so certain.
Daily Faceoff: Why New Jersey Devils may not be best landing spot for Connor Hellebuyck. Insider Frank Seravalli and former netminder Mike McKenna discuss the idea of the Winnipeg netminder becoming a member of the Devils.
TSN: Jets receiving trade interest in Wheeler, buyout also an option. The trade option is a bit of a surprise and in addition to retaining salary you have to think there will be a cost (i.e. draft pick or a prospect).
Global News: Rumours of Jets trading Dubois to Montreal won’t go away. As I tweeted the other day I don’t think the photo is particularly noteworthy since it appears to be simply a bunch of players from the same agency in Montreal attending a sporting event together. The question becomes has the Kings entry as buyers increased the Canadiens price they are willing to pay for the centre.
Jets video:
TSN: LeBrun on Dubois: ‘The Habs aren’t overplaying this’. Bryan Hayes, Jeff O’Neill and Jamie McLennan are joined by TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun to discuss the future of Pierre-Luc Dubois and which teams could be interested in the Jets forward.
TSN: Should the Jets buy out Wheeler if they can’t find a trade partner? The Devils have reportedly kicked tires on Connor Hellebuyck, but might be concerned about the ask in a contract extension. After seeing Adin Hill win a Stanley Cup with Vegas, is it wise for a team to trade assets and give a big contract to a goalie? Should the Jets buy out Blake Wheeler if they can’t find a trade partner? Former NHLer Martin Biron shares his thoughts.
TSN Insider Trading ‘The After Show’: Is Connor Hellebuyck worth Andrei Vasilevskiy money? Do you think Connor Hellebuyck is worth Andrei Vasilevskiy money? Who do you think the Jets should target as their starting goalie? TSN Hockey analyst Jamie McLennan joins Jay Onrait to answer all these questions and more.

The Cam and Strick Podcast: Chat with veteran Jets forward Sam Gagner. The Ontario product has accomplished quite a bit in his NHL career and he joined NHL Veteran Cam Janssen and NHL insider Andy Strickland for a conversation. He spoke quite highly of his time in Winnipeg.
Ice news:
National Post: Zach Benson’s winding road primed for next stop — the NHL draft. Folks in Winnipeg were fortunate that they were able to see him play as much as they did because he really seems like he is going to be a special player in the NHL.
