Note: The Jets, Moose and Ice are all in offseason mode but is there really ever an offseason? If there is any news we will have it for you here.
Note II: If you’ve got a Jets question then send it to Ken Wiebe of Sportsnet as he is accepting questions for his next mailbag. You can send him a DM on twitter here or you can email him (wiebesworld9@gmail.com) your question.
Note III: The offseason officially began last night with the Vegas Golden Knights eliminating Paul Maurice and the Florida Panthers in five games to win the first Stanley Cup in the sixth year of their existence. Former Jets goalie Laurent Brossoit is now a champion. And the Stanley Cup better be prepared to spend some time in Manitoba given all the players/management/scouting staff who are from this province.
Note IV: The buyout window opens on June 16th and ends on June 30th. The next event on the NHL calendar will be the Entry Draft in Nashville which gets underway on June 28th (1st round) and June 29th (rounds 2-7). Remember to join us in two weeks for live IC coverage on our YouTube channel of the Draft.
Jets news:
Global News: Stars asking to leave doesn’t reflect on Winnipeg as an NHL city. As Paul writes this city isn’t for everyone and that’s fine. There have been plenty of players from the States, Europe and other parts of Canada who have signed long-term contracts with Winnipeg. And it’s not like Connor Hellebuyck didn’t commit to this city. He spent ten seasons in Manitoba and signed a six-year extension with the Jets. He enjoyed his time in this market given his love of fishing/being outdoors.
Winnipeg Sun: A Jets rebuild doesn’t have to be taboo. Fact is the fanbase knows what time it is and the writing has been on the wall for some time. Not sure there is anyone left who thinks this group has what it takes to get it done.
NHL.com: Samberg finds new confidence in his game after World Championship. He had a breakout season in his first full one in the NHL and will be a big piece of this Jets puzzle in the coming years.
Montreal Gazette: Is Pierre-Luc Dubois a good fit for the Canadiens? Missed this from a few days back as folks in Montreal evaluate the pros and cons of adding a centre like number 80 to their roster.

Steve Dangle, Adam Wylde and Jesse Blake discuss the report that Pierre-Luc Dubois has asked for $9M+ on his next NHL contract. Is he worth that money? Which team will he end up playing for this season? Should the Montreal Canadiens trade for him now?
