Note: The Jets, Moose and Ice are all in offseason mode but is there really ever an offseason? If there is any news we will have it for you here.
Note II: There was quite the news bomb on Saturday AM as number 37 joined number 80 as a topic du jour with the news that Connor Hellebuyck‘s next contract won’t be with Winnipeg.
Note III: If you’ve got a Jets question then send it to Ken Wiebe of Sportsnet as he is accepting questions for his next mailbag. You can send him a DM on twitter here or you can email him (wiebesworld9@gmail.com) your question.
Jets news:
Global News: Jets need clarity on why players like Dubois choose to leave. The fact is it is likely never going to be out there (or at least won’t be until Dubois retires) his reasons for choosing to leave. The fact is there have been plenty of guys who were willing to embrace this market (Wheeler, Hellebuyck, Scheifele, Connor, Ehlers, Morrissey, Lowry, etc). Once a deal gets consummated expect a lot of “it’s not you, it’s me” or “I loved the city but”. At the end of the day some markets and players just do not fit.
Daily Faceoff: Four trade destinations to watch for Winnipeg Jets center Pierre-Luc Dubois. Ultimately Kevin Cheveldayoff would take the best package available but I think he’d have to be really up against the wall to trade with Minnesota or Colorado. I am still inclined to believe his preference is somewhere out East or a team like the Kings which have a very good pool of prospects.
Sportsnet: Friedman says he’s been told Kings to take big run at Pierre-Luc Dubois. On the podcast which was released yesterday he said he was told that L.A. is expected to take a run which as I said above is a good thing for Winnipeg given how deep their prospect pool is. He also details the contract expectations for the centre.
Jets video:
The Sick Podcast with Tony Marinaro: Discussing Pierre-Luc Dubois situation. On this episode of The Sick Podcast, Andrew Paterson of Winnipeg Sports Talk joins Tony Marinaro to discuss Pierre-Luc Dubois and whether he would be a good fit for the Habs.
TSN: Button implores teams to be bold and trade for Hellebuyck. With Connor Hellebuyck informing the Jets that he’s not interested in signing an extension with the team, how does that change Winnipeg’s plans this offseason? What could they get in return for the star netminder? Craig Button joins That’s Hockey discuss.
